Fanless industrial PC for low-emission areas
Low Emission Zones are delimited areas in cities where traffic is restricted to non-polluting vehicles.
Improving air quality and reducing greenhouse gas emissions in cities are the main objectives pursued with the entry into force of the Climate Change and Energy Transition Law approved by the Government in 2021.
This law, from 1 January 2023, obliges Spanish municipalities with more than 50,000 inhabitants and those with a population of more than 20,000 people that exceed the limit values for pollutants to establish Low Emission Zones.
What are Low Emission Zones?
Low Emission Zones are delimited areas in cities where access is restricted to those vehicles that are considered more polluting due to their gas emissions. This classification is determined according to the environmental labelling established by the Dirección General de Tráfico (DGT).
Each municipality has to establish which urban areas are defined as Low Emission Zones and are therefore restricted to traffic in order to reduce air pollution. Access to these urban low emission zones is controlled by security cameras, which record the access of vehicles passing through the area.
These cameras send the recorded information to an industrial computer, which processes this data and verifies whether or not the vehicle can circulate in the area. In the case of an unauthorised vehicle, a fine is imposed on the driver.
