Interactive kiosks for paying by card at petrol stations

Interactive terminals to comply with the European AFIR Regulation

Did you know that according to the European Environment Agency, transport is responsible for 25% of greenhouse gas emissions? Reducing the carbon footprint and environmental pollution to improve the sustainability of our planet are priority objectives for most governments today.

To drive the transition to cleaner, more efficient and sustainable transport, the European Union has adopted a new regulation, namely Regulation 2023/1804 on the deployment of alternative fuels infrastructure (AFIR). This regulation indicates the minimum requirements that are necessary for the implementation of an infrastructure for alternative fuels, such as electricity, hydrogen, natural gas or biofuels.

With the approval of this new regulation, the European Union is taking another step towards achieving the objective of reducing greenhouse gas emissions by between 29% and 55% by 2030.

In this post we are going to explain how our interactive terminals, can help the petrol stations to comply with the new European regulation.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS TO BE MET BY ELECTRIC VEHICLE CHARGING STATIONS

This new regulation on Alternative Fuels Infrastructures includes the following measures among others:

- The obligation for Member States to install fast charging points every 60 kilometres on main roads and every 150 kilometres on other roads.

- Charging operators from 13 April 2024 must make it easier for users of electric or hydrogen vehicles to pay with credit cards or contactless devices, and without the need for a subscription for chargers of more than 50KW.

- Allow payment via QR code and mobile apps below that power.

- Provide all information regarding availability, waiting time and price on screens.

- Operators of public access charging or refuelling points should ensure that the opening hours of these points and operating time are sufficiently long to meet the demands of end-users.

INTERACTIVE TERMINALS TO COMPLY WITH "AFFIRM" REGULATIONS

At EOS Ibérica we design and manufacture technological solutions for electric mobility tailored to the needs and requirements of our customers. In our catalogue we have multimedia terminals that will enable electric filling stations to comply with the measures set out in the "AFIR" regulation.

Our eRecarga terminal is a charging station on a pole for outdoor use, which allows you to comply with these measures. They are designed to charge 1 or 2 cars at a time, and can be connected to any Open Charge Point Protocol (OCPP) system or renewable energy sources and technological solutions. The type of charging can be fast.

In addition, this technological solution allows the integration of adaptations such as the QR code reader and Ingenico, Verifone or Hipercom POS module (card reader + PinPad+Contactless). Another example of interactive terminals or kiosks that will help petrol stations to comply with the requirements of the "AFIR" regulation is our eColum, eStop, eStopPro, for light vehicles, and our eStop Truck, eStop Printer Truck and eStop TruckPro for trucks or vehicles of great height.

These terminals, as well as being able to incorporate peripherals such as QR readers, POS, scanners, ticket or A4 printers or POS modules, among other industrial components, are unattended technological solutions that allow different operations and management to be carried out without having to get out of the vehicle.

If you need more information on how our unattended and self-service interactive terminals can help you with the new "AFiR" regulation, do not hesitate to contact us. Our sales team will be happy to help you, answer your questions and advise you on the terminal or technological solution that best suits your needs and the requirements of your project.
