Precise position measurement in tight spaces
The new ACURO® AM34 absolute rotary encoder allows very compact servo motors
The available installation space in automation technology applications is continually shrinking. This presents drive technology manufacturers with major challenges due to industry requirements for increasingly compact motors. The new ACURO® AM34 absolute rotary encoder from Hengstler solves this problem: The installation height of the high-precision encoder is less than 20 mm, which makes it possible to design servo motors with very compact dimensions.
With positioning accuracy of ±120 arc seconds, the ACURO® AM34 absolute rotary encoder from Hengstler is ideal for use in servo drives. Furthermore, the rotary encoder has no bearings and therefore generates no intrinsic heat. This makes it possible to operate servo motors with these encoders at extremely high rpms. The ACURO® AM34 has a resolution of 16 to 20 bits in the single-turn version and 12 bits in the multi-turn version. Another outstanding feature of the absolute rotary encoder is the large operating range of –40 to +120 °C.
The ACURO ® AM34 is designed for speeds of up to 12,000 rpm and is equipped with a BiSS/SSI interface for digital automation. The encoder also features an electronic data sheet (EDS), which allows fast installation of servo motors by the user. Convenient integration of the ACURO® AM34 in the motors of drive technology manufacturers is likewise ensured by the encoder’s large mounting tolerances (±0.5 mm axial, ±0.1 mm radial).
