Automatic slab tong with 4 scissors for slabs with geometrical deviations HEPPENSTALL

HEPPENSTALL has designed and produced for its customer "Altos Hornos de México, S.A.B. de C.V.” in Monclova, Mexico a slab tongs with a capacity of 40 t, which can safely lift and transport raw and rolled slabs with large geometrical deviations (conicity).

With a specially designed table device, the tong is aligned and positioned on top of the slab, so that the individual scissors grip individually. A safe lifting and transporting of concentric slab is guaranteed. As an additional benefit, the automatic slab tong can grab and lift two short slabs with two scissors each simultaneously.

The installation and commissioning on site was carried out by our HEPPENSTALL service engineers. The automatic slab tong has proven itself in daily hard use at „Altos Hornos de México, S.A.B. de C.V“. since summer 2017.
