Systematic leak detection SePem® 100 and SePem® 150

The SEWERIN group of companies, based in Gütersloh, has just unveiled a new logger system. The SePem® system comprises the SePem® 01 Master receiver together with a variable number of data loggers. SePem® 100 loggers are designed for mobile use and SePem® 150 loggers for permanent use, depending on the application. They are magnetically attached to key rods on slide gates, to hydrants or to other fittings in the pipe network. The microphone integrated in the logger converts the structure-borne noise in the line to a sound signal. This noise is recorded cyclically during times of low consumption – usually overnight between around 2:00 a.m. and 4:00 a.m. At this time of night there is little if any sound interference in the surrounding area. On a leak-free line the noise level measured during this time is close to zero. If there is a leak, however, the noise logger will measure values very different from zero, thus indicating a leak.

The SePem® software is a user-friendly tool for data evaluation. Data from the noise loggers is transmitted from the SePem® 01 Master to a PC via a USB interface. The loggers can then be dragged & dropped into position on a map if the PC is connected to the internet. All the measurements recorded are then assigned to this measuring point. There are also numerous functions available for displaying requirements for both mobile and stationary applications. In the absence of an internet connection, the measurement data is displayed in the usual way in a table in Explorer view.
