Type Of Fastener

7 types of common fasteners

A fastener is a mechanical component used to connect, secure, close or support a component. They are typically made of materials such as metal or plastic and come in different shapes, sizes and structures to meet the needs of a variety of engineering and manufacturing applications. Common fasteners include bolts and nuts, screws, washers, rivets, pins, nails, anchors 7 categories.

Bolts are fasteners with external threads that are used to pass through the connected objects and cooperate with nuts to secure the objects. Nuts are internally threaded fasteners used to mate with bolts to achieve connections.

Screws are fasteners similar to bolts, but usually do not require mating nuts and can directly connect two or more parts together.

A rivet usually consists of a metal rod with a head formed on the other end. In use, one end of the rivet is placed between the materials to be joined and then secured by forming a head on the other end, usually by nailing or squeezing.

A pin is a fastening device, usually a steel nail or wire, used to hold parts together or as a pin. Classified by use: Fixed Pin, Locating Pin, Cotter Pin, Spring Pin.

In addition to the common thick and strong nails with narrow and round heads, there are also offset nail finishing nails, box nails and more.

Anchors are devices used to create secure connections to surfaces such as walls, ceilings, or floors. They are often used to provide additional support or to secure an object, especially where there is no fixed structure or on a weak surface.
