Automation Project for Ceramic's end-of-line
Baldocer automates its end-of-line with Innova's 4.0 Packaging Technology
Baldocer launched this 2022 a new packaging line with Innova Group' s technology. The new automatic line, installed in Baldocer's Factory 1 in Vilafamés, is aimed at obtaining better protection and securing for the transport of its ceramic products. Baldocer was looking for an automated packaging system that would adapt to the specific characteristics of its product, to which Innova Group responded with an installation specially designed for Baldocer's safety requirements.
Baldocer is one of the ceramic references in the Spanish Tile Industry, with a growing trajectory and international expansion in more than 130 countries. Its commitment to new technologies and innovation has led it to the project of total automation of its end of line with Innova Group, specialized manufacturer of packaging systems.
Baldocer’s Objectives: Automation and safety
Innova designed a tailor-made automatic line with double protection provided by the combination of the Stretch Hood and Stretch Wrapping systems. As a result, the ceramic product achieves greater watertightness and safety, avoiding damages and incidents caused by external agents and inclement weather conditions.
Baldocer also required a fully automated line prepared for access by different pallet vehicles such as pallet trucks, forklifts and eventually in the future AGVs.
Baldocer’s project: One of the safest packaging lines
Baldocer's packaging line includes the following systems:
Automatic Wrapping machine with cover applicator:
Innova's automatic Ring Stretch Wrapping system is the ideal solution to give greater hold and stability to Baldocer's product, with very different pallet formats. Stretch Wrapping with ring provides a better grip on the non-uniform load shape than a strapping system. The stretch wrapper installed at Baldocer also applies an automatic top cover as extra protection and a reinforcement strap rope for added stability.
Stretch Hood System
The Stretch Hood system in Baldocer's line has been designed by Innova following special safety requirements with special access and safety handrails. Moreover, this Stretch Hooder has two reels to adapt to the different formats of Baldocer's production, thus offering maximum protection in combination with the wrapping machine.
With Stretch Hood, Baldocer is committed to this innovative pallet packaging technology, which is more energy efficient and sustainable than similar systems on the market.
Packaging conveyor line
The packaging station is connected by a conveyor line adapted to the three types of vehicles: pallet trucks, forklifts and AGVs. The line includes a pallet lift for vehicle access from ground level, a pallet centering device and a pallet outfeed line. As a novelty, the output line includes a pallet weighing scale interconnected with Baldocer's ERP to provide final information on the weight of the goods, which is printed on the logistics label in real time.
New phases of Baldocer’s automation project
The packaging line installed in Baldocer's Factory 1 is ready to include future expansions. In addition, Baldocer's packaging project also includes two additional packaging lines, dedicated to standard and large-format productions, respectively.
Baldocer has expressed to Innova "its satisfaction with the automation project with the line already installed" as well as its confidence in Innova Group as a partner in packaging systems. For Innova, "working with Baldocer has been a pride for being a reference company in the sector".
