Three IREM Pelton turbines for Acquedotto Langhe and Alpi Cuneesi SpA

The main objective of this project is the production of electricity by exploiting drinking water as a renewable source on an existing aqueduct network.

The sites that have been taken into consideration for the construction of the hydroelectric plants are those hosting the main sorting works of the drinking water distribution network, of the Langhe Aqueduct and Alpi Cuneesi SpA, before distribution to users in the Langhe and Roero area. The installations are located in the municipalities of Lequio Berria, Mombarcaro and Murazzano in the province of Cuneo (Piedmont – Italy).

For this important project, IREM supplied 3 Pelton hydroelectric turbines, with powers ranging from 34 kW to 180 kW, intended to be installed in each of the places identified by the client.

Pelton IREM ECOWATT HYDRO turbines, specific for hydroelectric plants on aqueducts, comply with the legislation on processes and materials that can be used in contact with water intended for human consumption regulated in Europe by the European directive 98/83 / EC, in Italy by DM 174/2004 and in France by the ACS (Attestation de Conformité Sanitaire).

Both compliance with the D.M. 174/2004 that the ACS – standards among the most restrictive at European level – can be certified by a Third Party.

The added values of the certification are many:

- Risk analysis

- Traceability of certified materials

- Migration tests

- Production standard certification

- Specific manuals

The installations on the aqueduct of the IREM Turbine Generator Units ensure ergonomic products, free of lubricating oils and simple operation in order to reduce installation and maintenance activities to a minimum.
