When a servo press runs continuously for some time, the ram can expand from the heat. Add position deflection from the workpiece into the mix and the ram position can fluctuate. Some pressing applications require especially tight margins of error, and even the small position differences caused from heat and deflection can mean the difference between operational success and failure.
