Through-Hole RF Integrated Rotary Joint Technology Capabilities of JINPAT

Rotary joints are essential components in radar and motion control systems.

Many radar rotary joints, except for some low-end products with shorter scanning distances, require the integration of RF signal modules. Due to different naming conventions for radar RF modules in various industries, JINPAT, as a professional slip ring manufacturer, refers to RF rotary joints as high-frequency slip rings or high-frequency rotary joints. These products typically have up to 4 channels, and their frequency coverage ranges are the same as those of radar, motion control, and other radio devices.

High-frequency rotary joints are usually integrated with through-hole slip rings to form innovative RF integrated rotary joints. Since the inner diameter of the through-hole slip ring is occupied by the high-frequency rotary joint, this integrated slip ring can only be installed on non-axial rotating centers. Many models of rotary joints developed by JINPAT fall into this category. However, in some special cases, solid pillar-type rotary joints cannot meet the requirements because certain radar rotary joints need to be mounted on their rotating axes. This is when through-hole intermediate frequency (IF) rotary joints are required.

In general, high-frequency rotary joints are standardized products. Therefore, integrated rotary joints incorporating these joints do not require further adjustment to match various signal performances. This is the advantage of standardization. On the other hand, through-hole RF integrated rotary joints are typically customized products. Due to minor differences introduced during non-standard manufacturing processes, each product of the same model may encounter signal matching issues, such as consistency of RF signals among different channels, consistency of delays between two channels, and channel isolation. Different products have different parameters and require personalized calibration.

JINPAT possesses technical capabilities in both standardized high-frequency rotary joint series and customized through-hole RF integrated rotary joints. For example, the standard model LPHF-02A developed by JINPAT has achieved significant performance improvements, surpassing other similar high-frequency rotary joints. JINPAT' through-hole IF rotary joints can support a maximum aperture of 120mm, depending on the frequency. RF integrated rotary joints developed under this aperture condition exhibit high reliability, stability, isolation, and synchronization. These rotary joints have signal phase angle variations less than 8°, phase consistency less than 2°, isolation greater than 65dB between different groups, and delay less than 0.1ns between different groups.
