Low-Power Podded Electric Propulsion Slip Ring Solutions

Low-Power Podded Electric Propulsion Slip Ring Solutions

As the importance of energy conservation continues to rise, various types of vessels are increasingly adopting electric propulsion and podded electric propulsion systems as their primary means of propulsion to reduce energy consumption. In these podded electric propulsion systems, slip rings are integral and indispensable components. Recognized as a leading slip ring manufacturer, JINPAT has consistently maintained a prominent position in the research of slip rings for podded electric propulsion systems.

In comparison to other small electrical devices in different sectors, the power output of podded electric propulsion systems typically starts at a few hundred kilowatts. Even for small-tonnage vessels engaged in inland waterway transportation, such propulsion systems find widespread application. To cater to the needs of these low-power podded electric propulsion systems used in inland waterway vessels, JINPAT has specially developed the 200KW series of slip ring products. This series includes two types: an ultra-compact slip ring type and a conventional carbon-brush integrated slip ring type. These two products primarily differ in terms of pneumatic and hydraulic channel configurations, designated as LPA000-06200-0618-44S-01A-05L and LPA000-06200-0618-44S-01A-06L, respectively.

LPA000-06200-0618-44S-01A-05L represents an ultra-compact slip ring designed for high protection propulsion systems. Excluding the PG joint height, the total height of this product is a mere 1117mm, with the stator body dimensions measuring 340mm x 320mm. In addition to its compact size, this slip ring achieves an IP65 protection rating. The other product, LPA000-06200-0618-44S-01A-06L, possesses an IP54 protection rating. Despite the lower protection level of this slip ring, it still demonstrates impressive functionality. Both of these slip rings are not only compact and feature numerous channels but also excel in transmitting high power. Integrating these various features into a single product is a significant challenge, yet JINPAT engineering design team boasts exceptional technical prowess to address these intricate challenges and provide outstanding solutions to customers.

Beyond slip rings for low-power podded propulsion systems, JINPAT possesses substantial product development experience in slip rings for propulsion systems with power ratings below 5MW. To date, the company has developed various models of slip rings for clients, including single-channel currents of 1000A, 2000A, and 4000A, with rated voltages of 690V, 1000V, and 3300V, respectively. Similar to the 200KW-level products, these slip rings consist of pneumatic and hydraulic modules, ultra-high-power modules, and standard electrical signal modules. These three modules operate independently and are designed with a high level of physical isolation to ensure that high currents during slip ring operation do not interfere with electrical signals.

With its exceptional technology and rich experience in the field of slip rings for podded electric propulsion systems, JINPAT continues to meet market demands and contributes significantly to the advancement of vessel electric propulsion technology. As electric propulsion technology continues to evolve, it is expected that JINPAT will continue to lead the industry, providing reliable slip ring solutions for the development of vessel propulsion systems.
