Introduction to Applications and Features of JINPAT High-Power Carbon Brush Slip Ring Products

In general, for slip rings transmitting lower power, a combination of regular bristles and copper rings is sufficient. However, when large or heavy equipment possesses infinite rotation joints with the need for current and signal transmission between the joints, a slip ring with corresponding functionalities becomes essential. In JINPAT product series, products with single-channel currents exceeding 50A are categorized as high-power products and are designed with carbon brush friction pairs. JINPAT engineers also determine the slip ring's structure based on varying installation environments and purposes.

Commonly, the open-frame design is most prevalent for these types of high-power carbon brush slip rings. They can have box-shaped, cylindrical, or other irregular combinations of appearances, and, as needed, can include certain-sized through holes. This type of product finds extensive applications in equipment like rotating stages, tower cranes, shore cranes, offshore cranes, heavy-duty winches, and all-electric pod propulsion systems. On the other hand, the use of traditional stacked designs for carbon brush slip rings is relatively rare. These products are characterized by space-saving, compact volumes, often resembling larger hollow shafts in appearance. The primary application for this type of carbon brush slip ring is currently in the control centers of marine seismic industry robots.

As a pioneer among international slip ring manufacturers, JINPAT has developed corresponding product cases for many fields mentioned above. The characteristics of carbon brush slip rings used vary significantly based on the application equipment or industry. For instance, crane slip rings used on marine oil drilling platforms not only possess robust power transmission capabilities but also incorporate high explosion-proof ratings for stable operation in oil and gas extraction environments. High explosion-proof rating design also enhances the protective level of the slip rings, making high explosion-proof and high protection level carbon brush slip rings symbiotic.

Due to the relatively low rotational speeds and the excellent wear resistance of carbon brushes, their service life is exceptionally long. To ensure continuous observation of the slip ring's condition during long-term operation, many box-type slip rings are designed with observation windows. Some low protection level slip rings use transparent acrylic panels directly as observation window materials, providing a straightforward view of the internal condition of the slip rings for real-time operational alerts. Explosion-proof slip rings or high protection level slip rings also feature side windows, but during maintenance, these windows need to be removed for internal observation. Additionally, high protection level slip rings are filled with special substances at the seams, making maintenance a bit more complicated.
