KELLER HCW’s business unit MSR celebrates its 50th anniversary this year and wants to thank all customers and business partners for the long-term loyalty and excellent cooperation.

The invention of the finger car for Carl Keller’s brickyards in 1894 was the foundation for KELLER’s story of success. KELLER has been based in the Westphalian Laggenbeck since 1904. The development during the 20th century was very rapid and a small workshop became one of the worldwide leading companies for machinery and equipment for the heavy clay ceramic industry.

As part of the successful upswing in the 1950s and the developing market for electrotechnical products, KELLER founded the sister company KELLER Spezialtechnik in 1954, which developed and manufactured control and measuring technology for dryers. In 1967, KELLER Spezialtechnik took over the majority of the Hannover PYRO-Werk’s shares, which belonged to the suppliers of brickyard pyrometers. Herewith KELLER secured itself a know-how that would have been lost otherwise. Since then, this has been the date of founding the business unit, now known as KELLER MSR.

The administration and production of the areas, resulting from the takeover, was moved to Laggenbeck in 1971. KELLER Spezialtechnik and Pyro-Werk merged to KELLER Spezialtechnik-Pyrowerk GmbH in 1977. During the reorganization of the company in 1990 it became the business unit “MSR”.

The innovative developments of KELLER MSR in the field of non-contact temperature measurement have also increasingly been used in other industries. This way, in addition to the ceramic industry, the steel industry, foundries, the food industry, laboratory technology and glass industry also learned to appreciate the advantages of KELLER’s technology.

In addition to the systematic further development and worldwide distribution of high-quality pyrometers, the autonomously operating automation sector was integrated in 1994. The core of this division is the control of the mills and compound feeders as well as systems in the bulk material industry. The range of services includes complete plant planning and control engineering, including switch cabinet construction, visualization and process control technology. Intelligent, automated complete solutions are offered, from the delivery of the raw materials up to the loading of the product. Thus KELLER MSR was and still is one of the few companies on the market possessing extensive know-how in measuring technique as well as in control and automation technology.

In 2011, the two divisions IAS (Intelligent Automation Solutions) and ITS (Infrared Thermometer Solutions) were established in order to present the corporate identity and core competence more clearly on the market.

Today, KELLER MSR is a steadily growing global player in both, the IAS and ITS sectors.

In autumn 2016, the national distribution of high-end infrared cameras and real-time monitoring systems from Workswell was added as a new business unit under the label ICS (Infrared Camera Solutions) to expand the non-contact temperature measurement technology. These are used in numerous industrial fields of application for process monitoring and control of automation processes.

The KELLER MSR business unit solemnly and proudly looks back on the achievements of the company and will, of course, continue to develop innovative solutions and high-quality products for the industry in accordance with the philosophy of „Customer Satisfaction is our Motivation“ and offer the customers a partnership-based service.
