PTA welding with the PSI 400

At the trade show Blechexpo in Stuttgart, Kjellberg will introduce a new power source for versatile use. It is especially suited for plasma transferred-arc welding and plasma joint welding. Kjellberg thus continues on its successful path as manufacturer of advanced technologies for plasma cutting and welding.

With a maximum welding current of 400 A at a duty cycle of 100 %, the PSI 400 has a very high productivity. During the development of this power source the focus was particularly on the intuitive operation which is possible either via a touch display on the power source or via a laptop. Different user levels offer different possibilities of influence on the welding parameters and data management. In the simplest case pilot current, main current, gas and flux quantities can be adjusted by means of a menu. The next level allows entering the welding mode, parameters for pulsed mode, gas and flux quantities by a graphic interface. The highest level offers full process control by free adjustment of all parameters.

Another advantage of the PSI 400 is the maximum flexibility due to the offered operating modes plasma, pilot or TIG. Up to two types of flux or wires can freely be combined with one another. The flux types are calibrated and managed in a database. During interval welding the power source is able to establish the pilot arc when the main arc is turned off, thus enabling a quick re-ignition of the main arc. This prevents repeated HF ignition pulses and the lifetime of the consumables can be increased considerably.
