Zamak: a material we handle every day without knowing it
Construction, automotive, electrical: a discreet but ubiquitous alloy in everyday objects
Door handles, keys, locks, hinges, furniture knobs and switches: these everyday objects are very often made of zamak. This zinc alloy is omnipresent in our environment, as shown by the distribution of applications in Europe.
In construction, the leading sector in terms of usage, zamak is used for door hardware, locking systems, bathroom accessories and decorative elements, thanks to its precision moulding and high-quality finishes.
In the automotive industry, it is found in interior handles, control levers, mirror brackets and seat mechanism parts, where robustness and repeatability are essential.
The electrical and electronics sectors use it for housings, connectors and component supports. Finally, zamak is found in sports equipment, toys and clothing accessories, combining design, strength and recyclability.
A discreet material, but essential for many industries.
