OCA overhead handling systems give wings to heavy loads
OCA recently designed an overhead manual handling system in the painting area of a carpentry shop.
For more than 40 years, OCA has designed, manufactured and installed overhead handling systems for various industries. Our teams are particularly active in the industrial painting and surface treatment sectors. Parts storage, transport and transfer of heavy loads: the list of production constraints is long for this activity. This is why these fields have undeniable needs in terms of overhead handling, as proven by one of our latest projects. Discover the installation designed and set up by our teams in the painting area of a carpentry.
Manual overhead handling at the service of a carpentry
Our client, a carpenter, entrusted us with his project to make his painting process more ergonomic and productive. Previously, his painting operators manually hung the parts they were painting in their booths and were forced to move them using carts. This method of handling proved to be non-functional and inadequate for successful production.
OCA overhead handling, the secret to better profitability
To meet our customer's need for material handling assistance, OCA designed an overhead network in their manufacturing space to create:
- 1 manual loading and unloading area
- 2 accumulation areas (one area for parts awaiting painting and a second for painted parts awaiting drying)
Thus, the manual handling system installed allows our customer :
- To feed his painting cabin
- To move loads effortlessly from one area to another (storage area. To paint area; paint area to drying area)
- To direct the painted parts in a new direction thanks to the rotation of the spreader
- To move its parts to be painted in an ergonomic way by preventing the appearance of MSD (Musculoskeletal disorders)
The manual handling system in question includes 25 lifting beams, each supporting 25 kg. This means that our installation can move a total load of 2 tons over 300 m2 of production area!
The icing on the cake is that this system has the advantage of not consuming any energy!
