Benchijigua Express Ferry by Fred Olsen

A public address system that ensures clarity and reliability at sea, for one of the most advanced ferries of the moment.

[OPTIMUS Public Address Systems for New Fred Olsen Ferries]

A few months ago, the shipping company Fred Olsen contacted our sales team in the Canary Islands to order the public address and voice alarm system for their brand new ferry. Today, we are proud to present a success story for a unique vessel: the installation of an advanced public address and voice alarm system on the ferry Benchijigua Express, operated by Fred Olsen Express between the Canary Islands. This impressive 127-metre trimaran, built by Austal in Australia, is one of the longest in the world and a benchmark in maritime transport.

[OPTIMUS COMPACT System: the technology of Choice for the HSC Benchijigua Express]

To ensure infallible communication and rapid response in any situation, the Benchijigua Express has been equipped with an OPTIMUS public address and voice alarm system based on the COMPACT platform, designed to comply with EN 54 regulations, and adapted to the demanding standards of the maritime sector.

The installed system consists of two COMPACT arrays and two COMPACT-E expansion units, providing a scalable and reliable infrastructure to cover the entire vessel. Sound distribution is managed by eight UMX-2SA audio cards and sixteen UMX-MC6 control modules, allowing precise zoning of up to 96 loudspeaker sub-zones, ensuring that each area of the ferry receives messages with maximum accuracy.

With a total power of 8000 W RMS, the speaker distribution and zoning guarantees uniform coverage and high intelligibility in all operating conditions. In addition, for the management of live alerts and emergencies, the system includes three DC-700ETH/T networked microphone desks, which allow the broadcasting of messages from different points of the ship, ensuring efficient communication between crew and passengers.

Thanks to this implementation, the Benchijigua Express has a robust, reliable public address and voice alarm system adapted to the requirements of modern maritime transport. This solution enhances safety on board and ensures that every announcement, whether emergency or informational, reaches all areas of the ferry clearly and accurately.

Our public address and voice alarm system integrates seamlessly with the advanced engineering of the Benchijigua Express, enabling safe and efficient operation, even in the most demanding conditions.

Pleased with the result, the shipping company Fred Olsen has decided to continue to rely on OPTIMUS technology for its next ferries, solutions on which we are already working.

This type of installation reinforces our commitment to our customers. We listen and study their needs and concerns, and we always look for ways to adapt our equipment to each situation and environment, regardless of their requirements, and above all, respecting the current regulations.
