Madrid-Chamartín-Clara Campoamor Station

The COMPACT System guarantees safety and optimizes communication in the renovated Chamartín Station.

[Innovation in Communication Systems for a Key Infrastructure]

In the renovation of the underground hall at Madrid-Chamartín-Clara Campoamor Station, OPTIMUS technology has played a crucial role in enhancing communication and safety. This hall, often referred to as the ghost hall, had been closed for nearly 40 years and was recently reopened as part of an ambitious modernization plan. It has been equipped with our advanced public address and voice alarm systems, ensuring clear and reliable communication throughout the entire venue.

[OPTIMUS Technology for Madrid-Chamartín]

The public address and voice alarm system at Chamartín Station has been implemented using OPTIMUS’s COMPACT series, which is EN 54 certified. This high-security solution includes digital audio matrices, equipped with enough input and output cards to cover all the speakers across the station’s lobbies, platforms, and corridors. Designed with full redundancy and comprehensive monitoring, it also incorporates backup amplification and battery management to ensure continuous operation, even in the event of a power failure.

The PA system integrates seamlessly with the Passenger Information System (SIV), ensuring that messages and announcements are delivered promptly to the right locations, at the right volume, and at the right time. In addition, the COMPACT system is linked to Grupo Aguilera’s fire prevention system, providing a robust safety solution at all times.

We also provided intercom units for information points and emergency assistance requests, specifically the EP-44SIPH model. This sophisticated device features a pre-recorded message for ongoing calls, braille, accessibility pictograms, and an induction loop. Additionally, induction loop systems have been installed on the platforms and at customer service counters, improving communication between staff and people with hearing impairments.

At OPTIMUS, we understand that advanced technology is key to improving transportation infrastructures, and our involvement at Chamartín Station is a clear example of how our solutions can be integrated to enhance user experience and station operability. We focus on providing communication and public address systems that not only meet the highest safety standards but also improve efficiency during critical moments.

With this installation, we continue to demonstrate our capability to develop technological solutions tailored to the needs of each project, ensuring infrastructures like Chamartín are prepared for the challenges of the future. But this is just the beginning; Phase II of the renovations is already underway, bringing new opportunities to showcase OPTIMUS's innovative capacity. Stay tuned for what’s to come!
