Reduction Ratio of Planetary Gearbox

The relationship between the number of teeth on two meshing gears used to transmit motion. The gear ration reflects the change in mechanical advantage resulting from the gears.

Gear Reduction:

A gear ration used to decrease the speed and increase the torque of mechanical energy.

The reduction ratio (Rb) of a planetary gearbox is the ratio of the angular velocity of the input gear St (motor side) to angular velocity of the output gear Os, also known as the speed ratio of planetary gear reducer.

Rb = St / Os.

Rb = Reduction Ratio of Planetary Gearbox

St = Speed (rpm) of Servo / step motors

Os = Output Speed (rpm) of Planetary Gearbox

Exemplification:

Here we take an exemplification by the servo motor model type, ECMA-C10807GS , of Delta Group with PHT Vertex planetary gearbox, DH type by size 90 mm.

Input speed (rpm) of servo motor is 3000 rpm

Output speed (rpm) of planetary gearbox is 300 rpm

Then, 3000 rpm / 300 rpm = 10

The reduction ratio of planetary gearbox is 10:1

The compatible and complete planetary gearbox model is DH090L1-10-19-70-90-M6
