There are several surface treatment solutions available, but corona and plasma solutions are among the most commonly used today. By applying a high energy and high voltage discharge to a substrate, inks, coatings and adhesives will bond to surfaces more effectively. Corona treating improves the receptivity of challenging surfaces by breaking bonds at the molecular level; these broken bonds combine with free radicals—which are more receptive to inks and adhesives—resulting in enhanced adhesion.
