What is a concrete block height control system?

A height control system is an automated quality inspection solution integrated into the block machine exit line to verify whether produced concrete elements meet predefined dimensional tolerances.

The Rometa system measures the actual height of concrete products immediately after production, ensuring that every piece complies with required specifications.

Unlike manual inspections or random sampling, this technology performs continuous, real-time measurements during production, allowing immediate detection of deviations.

How the Rometa height control system works

As trays loaded with freshly produced concrete blocks leave the block machine, they pass through a measurement arch equipped with three laser sensors positioned strategically:

Left side
Center
Right side
Each laser sensor performs a double reading process:

The distance to the empty tray surface.
The distance to the top surface of the concrete block.
By comparing these two measurements, the system calculates the actual block height with an accuracy of ±0.1 mm.

This level of precision enables manufacturers to maintain highly consistent dimensions across production batches and minimize quality issues before curing or palletizing.
