JESD22-A101D.01-2021 standard overview

This standard specifies the determination methods and conditions for performing steady-state temperature-humidity deviation life tests. The test is primarily used to assess the reliability of unsealed mounted solid state devices in humid environments by simulating high temperature and high humidity ambient conditions, accelerating the penetration of moisture through the external protective material or along the interface between the external protective coating and the conductor, or through other features of it, and thereby assessing the humidity resistance of the insulating material used in the component.

JESD22-A101D.01-2021 requirements for testing

Temperature: 85±2°C (wet ball 81°C) and a pressure of 49.1 kPa (7.12 psia), but wet ball temperature and pressure are not mandatory.

Humidity: Relative humidity is not specified, but is normally maintained at a high level to accelerate water penetration in this type of test.

Warming and humidification: To be completed within 3 hours, while avoiding condensation, it is common practice to warm up the temperature first, then the humidity.

Cooling down the humidity: to be completed within 3 hours, while avoiding condensation, the process of maintaining the dry bulb temperature is always higher than the wet bulb temperature, the usual practice is to first reduce the humidity, and then reduce the temperature.
