Intelligent device for handling pipe couplings

This demand has beed successfully satified by the implementation of an INDEVA manipulator Liftronic model with gripping tool for picking 1 or 2 pipe couplings at the time.

Pipe couplings of different sizes (from 8,5/8 to 15 inches) and weights (up to 50 kg each) arrive in different lots to the greasing line. A worker must pick them up from vertical position and and release them on the line in horizontal position. Each time a new lot of pipe couplings arrive to the greasing line the operator adjusts the manipulator end effector to the new load size, with a simple and quick manual operation.

The distance of the gripping tool handles from the gripping chuck can be easily adjusted according to the requirement of each different worker, in order to ensure ergonomic position to all workers. Being an INDEVA truly autobalancing, and extremely sensitive to operator intention, workers can keep a steady work pace all day long without any harm or injury to their back.

This manipulator belongs to the Liftronic Series, and as such, thanks to its electronic control, allows for great precision of movements and load positioning. Thanks to the auto balancing feature it is possible to handle loads of different sizes with no need to select a different weight setting each time a new lot of couplings with different weights has to be handled.

By means of a simple selector it is possible to decide whether to pick one or two couplings at the time.
