Lead
Lead is relatively little used, especially in the context of adhesive film.
Demand for it has decreased considerably due to problems with sourcing and disposal, and technological progress.
Recently, however, Secad received a request from a customer for a lead-based adhesive tape for industrial use.
In this case, the first step was to find a supplier who could provide the lead-based film best suited to our needs.
We then selected the adhesive for the final purpose: protection against acids.
It seems that certain types of industrial stripping require the use of acid, and the only material resistant to the corrosion of acids is lead.
The lead-based film is used to cover the parts to be protected, and in fields like aeronautics.
Other possible applications for the adhesive are protection against X-rays, in galvanizing baths and even for weighing fishing lines or balancing tennis rackets.
