Full-range inclinometer delivers real-time angle data for hydraulic excavators — from slope grading to automatic 3D machine-guidance systems
Ruicom today announced the release of the DTS dynamic tilt sensor, a triaxial dynamic inclinometer designed specifically for attitude monitoring of hydraulic excavator booms, arms and chassis. Engineered to deliver stable performance under heavy vibration, hydraulic shock and rapid temperature swings, the DTS enables higher working efficiency, superior accuracy and enhanced safety for construction equipment on the harshest job sites.
Why excavators need precise tilt sensing
Modern excavators are no longer just digging machines — they are increasingly used as semi-automated grading platforms. To perform these tasks well, the vehicle controller needs to know the angle of the boom, the stick, the bucket and the chassis at all times, even in the presence of intense vibration, hydraulic shock and wide temperature variation.
Typical application: real-time boom pitch monitoring
Mounted on the excavator boom, the DTS dynamic inclinometer accurately captures the boom's pitch angle θ in real time under heavy-vibration working conditions. The angle data is fed to the vehicle controller, supporting:
Automatic slope grading
3D machine guidance
Other semi-automated earth-moving functions
