Integrated weighing technology for Advanced Controllers

Siemens is extending its weighing technology portfolio to include two new electronic modules: The Siwarex WP521 ST and WP522 ST. The new technology module designed for the Simatic S7-1500 Advanced Controller family is available in two variants, and is ideally suited for platform scales and filling level monitoring in silos and bunkers.

The new technology module integrates seamlessly into Simatic S7-1500 controllers. Used in combination with other Simatic periphery modules, solutions can be implemented for wide-ranging systems and requirements. Using the free “ready-for-use” sample application, customer and industry-specific solutions can also be simply and effectively implemented. The scale is commissioned using the service software tool Siwatool V7. The module comes ready equipped with a selection of different interfaces: Simatic S7-1500 Systembus, Modbus TCP/IP (Ethernet), and Modbus RTU (RS495), as well as four digital outputs and three digital inputs. Automatic impedance monitoring of the connecting load cells as well as process and diagnostic alarms all serve to improve plant safety and availability. Siwarex WP521 ST is a single-channel version for use with a single scale, while the dual-channel version Siwarex WP522 ST permits the creation of two-scale systems.

The shielding set supplied as standard guarantees interference-free connection of the load cell.
