Silverson Machines on a winning streak
A number of award wins and nominations for Silverson Machines
Silverson Machines Ltd have recently won an award for their Apprentice training scheme, been recognized for excellence in Manufacturing and achieved finalist status for a National Manufacturing award.
Silverson, based in Chesham, Buckinghamshire manufactures high shear industrial mixers for the food, cosmetic, chemical and pharmaceutical industries. All Silverson mixers are manufactured in-house at the company’s Chesham factory and supplied to companies large and small in over 150 countries.
In the last month Silverson have been awarded two local awards, the first at the Buckinghamshire Business First Awards 2019 which was held at the Waterside theatre in Aylesbury. The awards recognise local businesses who show that they are leaders in their field and excel through hard work and entrepreneurial vision.
Having been finalists in the Apprentice and Young Person Employer of the Year category for the last few years, this year Silverson’s Apprentice Trainer Andy Darby finally took home the award sponsored by Buckinghamshire County Council.
The Silverson Apprentice scheme has been running since 2014 and is a traditional 5 year indentured apprenticeship in Mechanical Engineering which combines practical training and study for a recognised qualification. The first apprentice to complete the scheme is now working on the shop floor as a full qualified engineer in one of the specialised departments. Two more apprentices from our second year of intake will be completing the programme early next year.
The successful apprenticeship scheme and Silverson’s significant investment in a purpose built apprentice training centre based at the factory in Chesham was also recognised by the Chiltern Chamber of Commerce.
The Chiltern Chamber of Commerce awarded Silverson Machines a Special Recognition award for Excellence in Manufacturing and services to the Chesham Community
The prestigious award was presented to Managing Director Harold Rothman and Sales Director David Rothman at a presentation hosted by the Rotary Club of Chesham at Chartridge Park Golf Club.
Councillor Jane MacBean from Chesham Town Council attended the event and praised Silverson’s contributions to the local community and charities. Silverson Machines has been
operating in Chesham for over 50 years and employs over 120 people, many of whom come from the local area.
Silverson have also been recognised by a National award - The Manufacturing MX Awards which is the UK’s largest and most rigorous industry awards programme, for their achievements in International Trade.
The Manufacturing MX Awards for International Trade recognises how through export activity the company has been able to increase international sales; demonstrate a commitment to expanding international business; and demonstrate the value and contribution of exporting to the future of the business.
Almost 50 of Britain’s top manufacturing companies have made it through to the award finals and Silverson Machines has been selected among them as one of the finalists in the International trade category. All finalists will also be vying to win the coveted title of Manufacturer of the Year.
The winners will be announced at The Manufacturer MX Awards ceremony taking place on 14 November at the Exhibition Centre Liverpool. The evening will be the culmination and highlight of Digital Manufacturing Week - attracting over 800 attendees to celebrate the very best of British industry.
