Telecentric Lens for High Precision Detection
A telecentric lens is a special optical lens that is designed to correct the parallax of ordinary industrial lens.
It can only collect collimated light ray bundles, thus eliminating perspective
errors. Commonly, there are two kinds of telecentric lens. One is objective-space telecentric
and another one is image-space telecentric. With its unique parallel optical path design,
telecentric lens is usually used in machine vision applications, such as QR code scanning
and product defect detection.
Challenge
Industrial lens is a very crucial imaging component of machine vision system. At the early stage
of 21st century, with the widespread application of machine vision system in precision
measurement, it set a higher standard for performance of industrial lens. Therefore,
telecentric lens came out to remedy the deficiency. For ordinary lens, the closer the target
object is, the larger the image will be. So it may cause different magnifications, high distortion rates,
low resolutions and blurred edges. While the telecentric lens can effectively solve the above problems
and provide superior image quality, less distortion, more symmetry for image and higher precision
for measurement.
