Complex positioning tasks require special know-how: August Steinmeyer GmbH & Co. KG is a leading manufacturer of precision ball screws. They form the basis of the respective application and can be expanded into complex assemblies in combination with a motor and electronics. In this way, Steinmeyer Mechatronik GmbH realizes precise positioning systems, mechatronic systems and optical components. Thanks to the mechanical and electrical precision measuring technology of Feinmess Suhl GmbH, a manufacturer of metrology tools, the products can be tested in in-house laboratories and thus achieve high manufacturing quality. Each location contributes to the implementation of high-quality products with its expertise and engineering services as well as various manufacturing and testing processes - from batch size one to series production. The customer benefits from the Group's innovative strength and reliability.
Joint project for medical technology
The success of the three companies working together was demonstrated in the realization of a precise aperture adjuster for computer tomography. The task was to develop a motion unit that moves the 1.2-kilogram apertures in front of the X-ray source in such a way that the X-ray beam can be adjusted to the required radiation dose. The adjustment unit is housed inside the ring tunnel and rotates continuously around the patient during CT scans. At the heart of the compact design is a ground ball screw, which forms the drive system with a stepper motor. The durable precision ball screw can be adjusted very finely and ensures high positioning accuracy as well as reliability of the aperture actuator. It exemplifies the solution competence of Steinmeyer Mechatronik, August Steinmeyer and Feinmess Suhl in the development of industry-specific positioning systems.
All products of the group are certified and manufactured in Germany. Above all, the focus is on partnership and proximity to the customer.
