JONO’s C&D Waste Solution
Shanghai Qingpu Recycled Building Materials Utilization Project
Project Overview
The Qingpu Recycled Building Materials Utilization Center Project is a comprehensive disposal project for construction waste and demolition waste. The designed capacity of this project is 500,000 tons of construction waste per year, and 500 tons of demolition waste and 1,000 tons of decoration waste per day. After the project is completed, it will effectively solve the disposal problem of construction waste in Qingpu District, and ensure environmental and urban safety.
Project Highlights
Regional Waste Management
The Qingpu Recycling Building Materials Utilization Center spans a total land area of 47,733 square meters and has a building area of approximately 27,509 square meters. And it consists of several key construction zones:
Production Area: This area includes the reception and temporary storage of construction waste, sorting and removal of contaminants from renovation and demolition debris, aggregate shaping, and the installation of noise and dust reduction facilities throughout the plant.
Storage Area: Dedicated space for the storage of processed recycled aggregates.
Management Area: Includes the office buildings and shift rest areas for workers.
Efficient Processing System
A core focus of the project was developing an effective waste disposal process. After extensive research and multiple rounds of discussions, the project team selected a "screening before crushing" processing route. This method, proven to be mature and reliable in the industry, meets the demands for intelligent sorting and maximizes land-use efficiency, aligning with the project’s production goals.
As a pioneer in the "three screening, three sorting" technology, it ensures the precise and efficient separation of renovation and demolition waste. The facility is equipped with advanced domestic sorting technologies, including AI-based sorting robots, near-infrared sorting devices, and intelligent aggregate storage systems. These technologies help meet the growing demand for high-quality recycled construction materials while adhering to environmental standards.
No Ground Contact Principle
One of the standout features of the Qingpu facility is its zero ground contact principle, which enhances operational efficiency and reduces costs. To be specific, it includes:
Incoming waste: Automated feeding machines allow waste trucks to unload directly without manual handling, ensuring efficient waste input.
End-products: Recycled aggregates and combustible materials are stored in dedicated silos or packaging systems to minimize contamination and streamline operations. Aggregates are stored in four silos (5,000 cubic meters each), while combustible materials are packed separately using intelligent self-unloading vehicles.
Production line: The facility processes renovation and demolition waste by breaking, sorting, and removing contaminants to produce recycled aggregates for applications like road construction, building foundations, and brick production. The four silos in the northwest corner can store up to 30,000 tons, sufficient for a building materials plant for about 20 days.
Closed-Loop Industrial Processing
The Qingpu Recycling Center uses a closed-loop, modern industrial processing model, offering advantages in safety, environmental protection, aesthetics, efficiency, and product quality. Key areas like waste unloading, feeding, raw material storage, and processing equipment feature integrated dust suppression and noise reduction systems:
Dry mist suppression: This technology helps control dust in all stages of production.
Ground-based mobile vacuum dust collection: This system ensures that dust is effectively removed from the working environment.
Sealed equipment: All machinery is fully enclosed, and negative pressure collection systems are used in conjunction with bag-type dust collectors to minimize emissions.
These technologies ensure clean, safe, and efficient operations while significantly reducing dust and noise pollution.
Conclusion
The Qingpu Recycling Building Materials Utilization Center is a cutting-edge facility designed to tackle the challenges of construction waste management and contribute to the sustainable development of Shanghai. Through innovative technologies and efficient waste processing, the center is transforming construction waste into valuable materials that support the growing demand for sustainable construction resources.
