Extraction for Stable Laser Processes

When particles settle on the optics, an air quality issue quickly becomes a process issue.

With laser systems, the focus is often on power, automation and processing quality. Extraction, however, is frequently considered later. Yet fumes, particles and gaseous compounds can contaminate the machine interior after only a short period of operation and settle on sensitive components such as the lens.

In automated laser processes, this can increase cleaning requirements and affect process conditions. Capturing emissions close to the source therefore not only protects the working environment, but also supports stable production.

TBH develops modular filter and extraction systems that can be adapted to the material, process and operating conditions. For suitable applications, configurations of the LN Series are available that have been tested according to EN ISO 21904, class W3. Verification by IFA, the DGUV Test mark and inclusion in the IFA positive list provide an independent reference for tested filtration performance.

Extraction should also be considered during the planning stage from an occupational safety perspective. For the Italian market, a properly dimensioned solution supports the reduction of exposure to fumes, dusts and potentially hazardous substances in line with the requirements of the Testo Unico.

At 35.BI-MU, TBH will present solutions for automated laser welding and other industrial laser processes.
