TECNOVER Paintip self-cleaning airless tips: Standard, Low Pressure, Fine Finish and Heavy Duty, made in Muggiò

The size code every brand uses, and the practical rule for picking the orifice on the job

Since 2022 TECNOVER has been manufacturing its own Paintip self-cleaning tips for airless spray guns, in three versions plus one dedicated to filler. The Standard is the everyday tip, and it handles demanding jobs too. The Low Pressure atomises with less pressure than a Standard with the same orifice (up to 50% less), which lowers the risk of overspray caused by bounce-back off the wall. The Fine Finish has a built-in pre-atomiser that makes the paint particles smaller and improves the finish with primers and light enamels. The Heavy Duty was designed specifically for ready-mixed paste filler and is usually recommended with a 0.021" orifice.
The size follows the convention shared by all brands: the first digit gives the fan angle, the last two the orifice diameter in thousandths of an inch. A 423 therefore has a 40-degree fan and a 0.023" orifice.
A tip, with its cylinder, usually only fits the tip guard base from the same manufacturer and model, so tip and base should be bought from the same brand. The Paintip base comes in both standard threads, European 11/16" and American 7/8". If you're not sure which one you have, measure the diameter: the American one is about 22 mm, noticeably wider than the European one at about 17 mm. The seal is renewed with the dedicated seal kit.
Tips can be ordered on their own or as a kit with the base. To recommend a size, TECNOVER asks for the technical data sheet of the coating, because the tip is chosen on the viscosity of the paint and the fillers it contains. On the job, the rule is to start with minimal thinning and the smallest orifice suited to the material: if the tip keeps plugging, thin a little more or move up to a larger orifice, and only at the end turn the pressure up until the fan is even, without overdoing it.
