Temposonics® R-Series V – New Sensor Housing against Corrosion

For many applications operating in extreme conditions, it is difficult to find precise and reliable measurement systems. The new sensor housing for the Temposonics® R-Series V with rod style is designed for just such requirements.

The advanced sensor generation is clearly focused in industry 4.0 (IIoT) functions supporting machine monitoring, predictive maintenance and process optimization. The new variant of the R-Series V as a rod version is the sensor in the highest-grade stainless-steel housing that protects the sensor and the precise non-contact technology from liquids, corrosion and extremely aggressive environments. From submerged applications to the dusty lines of manufacturing plants – this sensor meets the strongest industry expectations and can achieve position feedback in many different types of applications.

The extremely robust Temposonics® sensor with super shield housing, RM5, ensures long-term linear position measurement in the harshest environments. Hermetically sealed with a housing completely made of stainless steel 1.4404 (AISI 316L), it meets the requirements of protection modes IP68 and IP69 and prevents downtime due to its rugged design, saving the user time and money. The output options of the high-quality displacement transducer have been expanded. In addition to analog and SSI, the sensor is now available with EtherCAT®, EtherNet/IP™, POWERLINK and PROFINET output. The expanded interface options open up new opportunities across various applications. As our Product Manager, Dr. Olaf Kissing, states, "These extended interface capabilities empower our users to integrate our product into a broader range of systems, enabling them to open new use cases and drive more value from their investment.”

When combined with the TempoLink® and TempoGate® smart assistants, the R-Series V transducers provide comprehensive data about the application - such as sensor status, electronics temperature, operating hours, and magnet travel distance - facilitating predictive maintenance and optimizing system performance. “This powerful combination ensures increased flexibility, operational efficiency and long-term reliability for our customers.” concludes Dr. Kissing.
