Modernization of an overhead system at an industrial laundry
Technimanut was asked by a major industrial laundry to renovate and improve an overhead conveyor dating from 1990.
With a view to optimizing its production processes, a well-known industrial laundry manufacturer approached Technimanut, a specialist in overhead accumulation handling solutions, with an ambitious project to modernize its sorters. The project involved renovating and upgrading an overhead conveyor dating from 1990, originally designed by Jice Automation (formerly Technimanut), with the aim of increasing the reliability and efficiency of the clean linen handling equipment.
Retrofitting to optimize production
The conveyor in question is an essential part of the garment sorting process, with an output of 900 pieces per hour. However, after more than three decades in service, this equipment is experiencing numerous malfunctions that are affecting production continuity and increasing maintenance costs for our customer. To resolve these problems, Technimanut, a subsidiary of the OCA Group since its acquisition in 2022, was commissioned to carry out a complete maintenance and retrofit of this installation.
Planned improvements
Technimanut’s intervention will not be limited to a simple upgrade. In fact, several technological improvements will be integrated to meet our customer’s performance and reliability requirements:
Installation of new systems on the automatic chain tensioners: to guarantee constant chain tension in order to reduce wear and unplanned stoppages.
Torque arm control: this device will improve movement management and conveyor precision.
Change of pusher buckets: modernization of these critical elements will improve the flow of items to be sorted.
New technologies for garment inspection stations: these innovations will enable better detection of anomalies and faster garment inspection, optimizing quality and processing times.
These forthcoming improvements will ensure greater reliability of the overhead garment sorting system. What’s more, the industrial launderer in question will particularly reduce downtime and maintenance costs for this system.
Commissioning scheduled for December 2024
Technimanut’s intervention is scheduled for late October, and commissioning of the modernized conveyor is scheduled for early December, in collaboration with a leader in the automation sector. This strategic alliance will enable the integration of the latest control and automation technologies, guaranteeing improved productivity and flow management for the industrial laundry. With the support of the OCA Group, Technimanut has established itself as a key player in the modernization of handling systems for the textile industry.
