TYVA Energie switches Gillet Tools’ Move-It rail trolley to lithium

Our Moduloo Ax battery replaces lead-acid on an award-winning rail handling trolley

TYVA Energie equipped the Move-It™, Gillet Tools’ rail handling trolley, with a lithium battery from its Moduloo Ax range. Designed to move wagons along the tracks in maintenance workshops, the Move-It™ previously ran on a lead-acid battery: its range was limited to 80 metres, and deep discharges shortened its lifespan.

We integrated our A5 battery, the most compact in the Moduloo Ax range: just over 20 cm per side, under 5 kg, with more than 800 Wh of onboard energy. TYVA Energie adapted the enclosure to railway standards and added two aluminium plates to ensure the system’s electromagnetic compatibility.

The result: the trolley can now push convoys of up to 150 tonnes, offers much greater autonomy and weighs no more than 50 kg in total. As the battery is rackable, it can be swapped in seconds for a fully charged one, allowing uninterrupted use. In September 2022, the Move-It™ won the Innovation Prize at the French Rails Awards during Innotrans in Berlin.
