UMAG Magnet used in the throttle position sensor

UMAG Hard Ferrite Magnet

Throttle Position Sensor

The driver manipulates the accelerator pedal, and the accelerator pedal position sensor generates a corresponding voltage signal to be input to the throttle control unit. The control unit judge according to the current working mode, pedal movement and changes Analyze the driver ’s intention, calculate the basic demand for engine torque, and get the basic expected value of the corresponding throttle angle.

For the torque, the optimal opening of the throttle is obtained by compensating the expected value of the throttle angle, and the corresponding voltage signal is sent to the drive circuit module, which drives the control motor to achieve the optimal opening position of the throttle. The throttle position sensor feeds back the throttle opening signal to the throttle control unit to form a closed-loop position control.

Hard Ferrite Magnet

Hard ferrite magnets are produced with iron oxide and barium or strontium oxide. Since the 1950s, hard ferrite (ceramic) magnets have been widely applied because of low cost, good magnetic properties and excellent environmental stability. Especially for working temperature, Hard Ferrite magnets can be used at temperatures up to a maximum of +250℃.

UMAG joined an automobile throttle position sensor project 5 years ago, Hard Ferrite magnet is be injected in the sensor unit. Now UMAG Hard Ferrite magnets are used in more than 200,000 vehicles including both Europe and China market. Now we are developing a new project that NdFeB magnet is considered for throttle because of more precise sense.
