UMAG magnets used in Automatic Liquid handling Robot

In life science laboratories, the sample volumes are usually small, at the micro- or nanoliter level, and the number of transferred samples can be huge. Automated liquid handling is a core technology that enables much of modern life sciences and diagnostics.Biochemical protocols require a lot of pipetting, instead of manual pipettes, increasingly automation has increased both throughput and reliability.

In automated liquid handling systems, the pipette is programmable and 3 axes of motion are added to allow one or more pipettes to flexibly move liquids from one container to another.

High precision positioning stages serve a wide array of applications and can be considered “high precision” for various difference reasons. Linear motion stages provide precise automated positioning and are typically available as either single axis or as an XY stage. Each axis of a linear stage must constrain the six degrees of freedom (X, Y, Z, roll, pitch, and yaw) of the payload to only one, producing translation along a straight line. This is accomplished with a set of linear bearing guideways which are attached to a base structural member that provides a stiff support.

Using a linear motor is generally considered to be the most precise actuation technology. UMAG Magnetic assembly for Linear Motion Stage, applied to COVID-19 Vaccine development.

UMAG has extensive experience in providing magnetic linear motor for precision motion solutions configured to fit many different applications and can address even the most challenging requirements.
