Vimfun Launches Turnkey Infrared Optics Production Line: Five Stations, One PO, One Tolerance Budget
Vimfun Diamond Wire Saw now delivers complete infrared optics production lines as a single turnkey package — cutting, centering, grinding, polishing, and AR coating from one supplier, governed by one ISO 10110 tolerance flow document instead of five vendor datasheets.
The line runs from germanium or chalcogenide ingot to coated lens: closed-loop wire cutting at ~0.5 mm kerf (SG40/SGR40/SGI 40 platforms, ingots up to Ø200 mm), centering to ≤20 arc-seconds, spherical/aspheric generation from Ø10–250 mm, polishing to Ra < 5 nm up to Ø300 mm, and DLC/BBAR coating for the 8–12 µm LWIR band with SWIR/MWIR options.
The procurement math is the headline: 16–20 weeks from PO to first-article cut, versus the 6–12 months typical of multi-vendor builds — with integration risk carried by the supplier through a factory acceptance test before crates ship. On the material side, closed-loop cutting keeps $200–$600 of germanium per ingot out of the slurry; typical payback runs 12–18 months at mid-tier volume.
Reference deployments include a full five-station line at a Turkish thermal-imaging OEM and 30+ Vimfun cutting machines at a Chinese Optical Company.
