2-component print head for liquids in 3D printing
Extruder for the layered construction of 2-component fluids
ViscoTec makes it possible to print two-component liquids and pastes with maximum and consistent precision over the entire printing process: 3D printers have long been used in the industrial environment and are becoming even more interesting and lucrative for additive production thanks to further developments and increasing professionalism. For producing three-dimensional objects, thermoplastics, ceramics or metals are usually used. But in addition to the classical materials in 3D printing, viscous fluids and pastes based on a two-component polymer are increasingly used. These include, for example, silicones, epoxy resins, polyurethanes, acrylates and polyester resins.
ViscoTec has developed a two-component print head specifically for these materials and for use in 3D printers for viscous materials – the ViscoDUO-FDD 4/4.
Instead of an FDM extruder, the print head is implemented in the 3D printer and controlled with existing software solutions. This makes the purchase of other software unnecessary – and therefore, no extra cost for the customer! In addition, this control ensures exact adherence to the mixing ratio of the two materials over the entire printing process.
2-Component Print head Technology
At the heart of the print head is the rotating displacement principle. Thanks to the special geometry, a precisely defined chamber volume is created in which the material is continuously axially transported. By reversing the direction of rotation a breakage of the thread is generated – to ensure absolutely clean printing results. A purely volumetric technology that makes high-precision 3D printing possible.
Application Advantages of the ViscoDUO-FDD 4/4
Due to the low shear stress in the ViscoTec products, the materials are promoted in a product-friendly manner. The stability for the additive construction is not impaired. The programmable retraction prevents dripping of the material. For guaranteed precise transitions between the start and end points.
The 2-component print head is connected to the mixing head via two separate flow-optimized channels. Mixing of the two materials first takes place in the mixing tube. After completing the printing operation, the mixing tube can be easily removed and disposed of. The print head can also be filled over a longer period, since the separate extruder units prevent the materials from curing.
The two-component print head ViscoDUO-FDD 4/4 offers the ideal solution for both industrial and professional applications. Viscous materials are therefore transformed into three-dimensional objects with the highest precision.
