How compact paper mailers can simplify spare parts and component shipping

Protecting small technical products without oversized boxes and filling materi

Small spare parts, electronic components and consumables often travel inside packaging that is significantly larger than the product itself.

When boxes are used for relatively small items, the remaining empty space may require additional filling materials and create unnecessary volume across storage, packing and transport.

Würth provides a concrete example of a different approach. WaveBag is currently used by Würth in three countries and across three logistics flows: e-commerce orders to end customers, B2B supplies and internal logistics.

WaveBag uses an internal paper cushioning structure to provide protection while maintaining a compact mailer format. For companies managing many SKUs and frequent shipments, this can reduce the need to place smaller products inside oversized boxes with additional filling materials.

Its compact structure also helps reduce the space occupied by packaging stock in warehouses and around packing stations.

The Würth application shows how the same protective packaging concept can support technical products and components across different stages of the logistics chain, from internal movements to final delivery.
