How grocery delivery can protect fragile products without slowing down picking

Around 9 million WaveBag POUCH are used every year in one grocery delivery operation

Online grocery delivery creates a specific packaging challenge. Glass bottles, jars, eggs and other fragile products need additional protection, but that protection must also be quick and simple to integrate into high-volume order preparation.

This requirement led to the development of WaveBag POUCH for one of Italy's leading large-scale retail operators.

Instead of wrapping fragile products or placing them inside additional boxes, the operator simply inserts the item into the paper pouch during picking and continues preparing the order. POUCH has no adhesive closure, making the operation fast and straightforward.

Today, approximately 9 million WaveBag POUCH are used every year in this grocery delivery operation.

Because the pouch is made entirely from paper, it can also be placed directly into the paper recycling stream once it reaches the consumer.

The project shows how protective packaging can be designed around the existing picking process rather than adding another complex packing operation.
