Fulcrum Robotics Partners with Weda to Advance Reservoir Cleaning in Australia

Enables safe, confined-space water tank cleaning without draining

Fulcrum Robotics, an Australian systems integrator specializing in robotic inspection and cleaning of water infrastructure, has partnered with Weda to prototype an advanced robotic cleaning unit tailored for local reservoir environments. Serving utilities, municipal councils, and industrial operators, Fulcrum focuses on delivering safe, efficient, and repeatable cleaning solutions for reservoirs, tanks, and process basins.

In Australia, confined water reservoirs present unique operational challenges. Sedimentation levels vary significantly across regions, and strict safety standards limit human entry into tanks. Traditional cleaning methods often require draining assets or sending personnel into confined spaces—both of which increase operational risk, downtime, and costs.

To address these challenges, Weda and Fulcrum co-developed a prototype based on the YT-600 robotic platform, customized to meet regional and environmental requirements. The modified solution is designed for submerged operation, confined-space navigation, and efficient sediment removal without draining reservoirs. Currently undergoing field testing, the system is demonstrating strong performance and operational potential.

This collaboration highlights how localized engineering expertise combined with proven robotic cleaning technology can enhance safety, reduce operational disruption, and extend the lifecycle of critical water infrastructure assets across Australia.
