DHE Enhanced Non-contact Level Transmitter

DHE Successfully Accomplishes A 40m-long-range liquid level measurement; DHE’s Technological Innovation Ensures the Accuracy

In a special technical improvement project of safety technology of a domestic leading large-scale fluorine chemical enterprise in Zhejiang, due to the requirements of the management unit, except for the original liquid level gauge of the storage tank in the refrigerant tank farm, a new set of liquid level instrument must be added. The construction period was tight, and the technical transformation shall be completed as far as possible without affecting the production.

Challenge One The Pressure Vessel is Difficult to Transform

Solution: This storage tank was a pressure vessel, so the installation of contact liquid level meters on it needed tank cleaning, drilling and flanges installing. The on-site transformation of pressure vessels has complex procedures and high operation requirements, which is basically not feasible. Even if there is any possible, the auxiliary construction period is long and the safety risk is high. The installation of ELL-F-I Sonar Non-contact Level Transmitter does not transform the original structure of the storage tank, has no safety risk and the auxiliary construction cost is low. The transmitter is installed near the tested container. The measuring probe is adsorbed on the outer wall of the container through magnetic force, transmits and receives sonar signals, and realizes liquid level measurement across the tank wall.

Challenge Two Super Large Measuring Range; The Accuracy and Stable Level Data is Hard to Get

According to previous engineering cases, this was the first time to encounter a large-scale storage tank (the measurement range of non-contact measurement of storage tanks is within 30m). Due to the limitation of measurement principle, the increase of measurement range will have a great impact on the propagation energy of sonar signal in liquid. The signal is weak and the signal-to-noise ratio is poor, which may affect the stability of measurement.

Solution: DHE chose the Enhanced Sonar Non-contact Level Transmitter with the Enhanced ELL-YW measuring probe. The signal processing ability and signal recognition ability were greatly enhanced, which can overcome the influence of factors such as significant attenuation and interference after the sonar signal penetrates the container wall and reaches the liquid level. The advanced intelligent processing method ensured that the liquid level can always be effectively tracked and monitored. The hard isolated calibration channel corrected the subtle signal drift, so as to eliminate the influence of large range liquid stratification on the measurement accuracy, and can always ensure the high accuracy of instrument liquid level measurement.
