YOEC Square-Core Optical Fiber Wins the 'Best Laser Component, Part, and Component Technology Innovation Award'

YOEC Square-Core Optical Fiber Wins the 'Best Laser Component, Part, and Component Technology Innovation Award'

On August 30, 2023, the "Veeco Cup·ofweek 2023 Annual Laser Industry Awards" were held in Shenzhen, China. The "Veeco Cup·ofweek 2023 Annual Laser Industry Awards" is an important event in the domestic laser industry. In this year's awards, Yangtze Optical Electronic Co., Ltd. (referred to as YOEC, stock code: 688143) was honored with the "Best Laser Components, Parts, and Components Technology Innovation Award" for their square-core optical fiber. Additionally, Mr. Lian Zhenggang, the General Manager of YOEC R&D Center, received the "Outstanding Figure in the Laser Industry Award." This recognition not only affirms YOEC innovative capabilities but also highlights the rapid adoption of their technical solutions in the laser industry.

As laser technology continues to find widespread applications in various manufacturing sectors, China's laser industry is steadily rising to meet new challenges and opportunities. Against this backdrop, the "OFweek 2023 Laser Industry Core Components Technology Forum," organized by OFweek Veeco Net and held at the Shenzhen Futian Convention and Exhibition Center on August 30, 2023, aimed to promote collaboration among upstream and downstream companies in the laser industry chain and explore new possibilities in the laser industry.

During the forum, Mr. Lian Zhenggang, the General Manager of YOEC R&D Center, delivered a presentation titled "Applications and Development Trends of Square-Core Optical Fibers in the Laser Industry." In his speech, Mr. Lian provided a detailed overview of the research background and application areas of square-core optical fibers. Optical fibers are divided into communication fibers and specialty fibers, with specialty fibers further categorized into special structure fibers and special material fibers. Conventional large-core optical fibers find applications in the industrial and medical fields. In industrial applications, step-index large-core multimode fibers are suitable for uniform energy distribution, making them suitable for thin material welding and increasing the welding area. Gradient-index large-core multimode fibers are suitable for thick material welding and can be used in conjunction with lasers for surface heat treatment to enhance or improve material properties, increase surface hardness, and enhance corrosion resistance.

However, optical fibers still face challenges in laser applications, including fiber bundling, semiconductor laser mode matching, and uniform beam distribution. To address these issues, YOEC introduced large-core square-core optical fibers. This optical fiber not only matches the output beam of semiconductor lasers, improving coupling efficiency but also achieves uniform beam distribution in laser cutting, marking, and other processing tasks, reducing material surface damage. YOEC made breakthroughs in the development of square-core optical fibers. The product has successfully collaborated with more than 20 potential customers, achieving full-chain independent development of square-core optical fibers. The product has achieved leading domestic levels in terms of attenuation, size and structure control, and optical performance. Moreover, this innovation has addressed multiple issues in industrial laser applications, including coupling efficiency, bundling, energy transmission, mode shaping, and beam homogenization. The product also supports customization to meet the specific requirements of different customers. Through Mr. Lian's insightful presentation, attendees gained a deeper understanding of the prospects and potential of square-core optical fibers in the laser industry and highly recognized YOEC Optoelectronic Technology's innovative capabilities.

As an innovative company, YOEC will continue its efforts to contribute more to the development of the laser industry. This honor will inspire YOEC to continue innovating and create more opportunities and possibilities for industry prosperity and progress.
