The 14th Academic Exchange Conference of the Optical Technology Professional Committee of the Chinese Inertial Technology Society was successfully held in Haikou, and five papers were awarded for excellence!

On November 24-25, the 14th Academic Exchange Conference of the Optical Technology Professional Committee of the Chinese Inertial Technology Society was successfully held in Haikou, Hainan Province. The conference was organized by the Optical Technology Professional Committee of the Chinese Inertial Technology Society, hosted by China Electronics Technology Group Corporation (CETC) Chip Technology (Group) Co., Ltd., and co-organized by Yangtze Optical Electronic Co., Ltd.

The conference was attended by prominent figures such as Chairman of the Optical Technology Professional Committee of the Chinese Inertial Technology Society, Fang Zhen, Chairman and YOEC President Mr. Pi and Secretary-General of the Chinese Inertial Technology Society, Wang Yan. The meeting was chaired by committee member Bu Jijun.

The theme of this academic exchange conference focused on the "Integration and Application of Frontier Technology and Inertial Technology." Participants engaged in in-depth discussions on the demands of inertial guidance systems for various applications in land, sea, air, and space. The discussions covered ongoing research and development of inertial guidance systems, process improvements, and the current status of the development of new gyroscopes. The conference provided a platform for profound exchanges, the gathering of wisdom, and the stimulation of innovative thinking.

During the opening ceremony, Fang Zhen warmly welcomed the participants and emphasized the emergence of new development needs and application scenarios for optical devices and materials, as well as optoelectronic gyroscopic systems, in the context of rapid technological breakthroughs and significant progress in engineering applications.

Quoting "A thousand years is too long, seize the day!" YOEC President Mr. Pi inspired the audience in his speech. He expressed that, in the past five years, China's fiber optic gyroscope technology has rapidly developed, with products becoming more mature, the upstream and downstream industry chains continuously enriched, and the application areas continuously expanding, achieving brilliant achievements. Mr. Pi expressed the collective aspiration of YOEC to join hands with all attendees to create a brighter future for fiber optic gyro personnel.

YOEC, as the co-organizer, is a high-tech enterprise with optoelectronic technology as its core. In the material field, it has developed high-performance winding, adhesive ring glue, polarization-maintaining fiber inner and outer coatings, and other photo-cured polymer materials, solving the problem of "necking." In the field of intelligent equipment, it has successfully developed the fifth-generation intelligent winding machine and continuously evolved towards fully automatic winding devices. In the special optical fiber field, the panda-type polarization-maintaining fiber has achieved full series, national production, and comprehensive application scenarios, completing the technological iteration and self-transcendence from "keeping pace" and "running together" to "leading the pack." YOEC has also established the largest production base for polarization-maintaining optical fibers and winding in the country.

The conference invited Cheng Bolin, Deputy Director of the Unmanned Aircraft Working Committee of the China Air Transport Association, and Zhang Lizhe, Director of the Beijing Automation Control Equipment Research Institute, to give keynote speeches on "Application of Fiber Optic Inertial Navigation in the Second Generation of Drones" and "Discussion on the Precision Issues and Development Trends of Fiber Optic Gyroscopes," respectively, sparking lively discussions.

During the conference, YOEC technical team presented two highly anticipated academic reports, namely, "What Kind of Polarization-Maintaining Optical Fiber Do We Need?" and "Performance Study of Fiber Coil Based on Fine Diameter Polarization-Maintaining Photonic Crystal Fiber." The latter proposed significant room for improvement in the application of traditional fiber optic gyroscopes, specifically enhancing the environmental adaptability of fiber optic gyroscopes while meeting the requirements of miniaturization. In response, YOEC designed and manufactured fine-diameter polarization-maintaining photonic crystal fiber with an outer diameter of 100um and a cladding diameter of 60um. This paper was honored with the "Outstanding Paper Award."

Throughout the conference, a total of five outstanding papers were selected, including "Dynamic Performance Study of Fiber Optic Gyroscopes Based on a Complex Model" and "New Power for Rotor Gyroscopes - Optical Suspension Gyroscopes," attracting widespread attention from industry professionals.

Looking back at the various academic exchange conferences of the Optical Technology Professional Committee of the Chinese Inertial Technology Society over the past 30 years, each session has been a grand event in the industry, contributing impetus to the development of inertial optoelectronic technology in China. The successful conclusion of this conference in Hainan left behind many novel and profound viewpoints, providing guidance for the future development of inertial optoelectronic technology in China. The conference had more than 120 participants, including over 50 units from the fields of aviation, aerospace, navigation, weapons, and universities, showcasing the strong strength and extensive collaboration in this field in China.
