YOEC’s Fiber Optic Coils Recognized for Advancing Earthquake Monitoring
Wuhan, China — Yangtze Optical Electronic Co., Ltd. (YOEC) is proud to announce the recognition of its 2km fiber optic coil technology in the prestigious journal Applied Optics, published by Optica Publishing Group. Researchers have reported preliminary observations using a rotation sensor based on a 2km fiber optic gyroscope, which demonstrated excellent performance in detecting small to medium local seismic events over five months of continuous data recording.
The groundbreaking study, titled "Fiber Optic Gyroscope for Monitoring Rotational Ground Motion in the Campi Flegrei Volcanic Area," received notable feedback from the Italian National Research Institute and has been widely covered by European media. The research underscores the pivotal role of YOEC's fiber coils in enabling high-sensitivity rotational seismic monitoring, contributing to advancements in geophysical research and disaster preparedness.
This achievement highlights YOEC’s expertise in developing state-of-the-art optical fiber products for innovative applications. As a mark of its significance, the research was featured in Optica Publishing Group’s newsroom and garnered widespread attention from the scientific community and global media.
Building on the success of the 2km fiber coil, YOEC is now producing 20km fiber coils, further advancing their application in seismic monitoring. With superior reliability and sensitivity, YOEC’s fiber optic solutions are setting a new benchmark for precision in detecting rotational ground motion, aiding in the monitoring of critical seismic zones.
