YOEC Hosts 48th Gewu Lecture on Nanostructured Optical Fibers
YOEC Strengthens Global R&D Exchange with Lecture on Nanostructured Optical Fibers
On September 24, 2025, Yangtze Optical Electronic Co., Ltd. (YOEC, stock code: 688143) successfully hosted the 48th session of its “Gewu Lecture.” The event featured Dr. Mateusz Smietana, a full professor at Warsaw University of Technology in Poland and an internationally recognized scholar in the field of optical fiber technology, who delivered a keynote lecture on “Nanostructured Optical Fibers and Their Applications.” The lecture was chaired by Dr. Zhenggang Lian, General Manager of YOEC’s R&D Center, with Professor Chaotan Sima from Huazhong University of Science and Technology as a special guest. More than 30 members of YOEC’s R&D team attended the event.
In his opening remarks, Dr. Lian extended a warm welcome to Professor Smietana and briefly introduced his academic achievements. Professor Smietana has made remarkable contributions in the field of fiber sensing and measurement. He has conducted research at world-renowned institutions such as Stanford University and Virginia Tech, led over 30 scientific research projects, and published more than 200 academic papers, showcasing profound expertise and a broad international perspective.
During his presentation, Professor Smietana systematically introduced the breakthrough progress of the Warsaw University of Technology research team in nanostructured optical fibers, with particular emphasis on the innovative concept of “free-shape fibers.” He noted that this technology holds great promise in providing novel solutions to several challenges in optical system design. In addition, he gave an in-depth overview of the characteristics, fabrication methods, current challenges, and future application prospects of nanostructured optical fibers.
In the discussion session, YOEC’s R&D team, including several PhDs, engaged in lively exchanges with Professor Smietana on key topics such as fabrication methods, potential application scenarios, and industrialization pathways of nanostructured fibers. The interaction was highly dynamic and constructive.
As an important platform for promoting industry-academia-research integration, the “Gewu Lecture” once again facilitated dialogue between YOEC and the international academic frontier. Moving forward, YOEC will continue to inspire innovation through high-level academic events, further strengthen its leadership in the specialty optical fiber field, and contribute its “YOEC wisdom” to the advancement of the global optoelectronic industry.
