YOEC Ultra-Fine Diameter Polarization-Maintaining Fiber Achieves International Leading Level
Recently, the “Scientific and Technological Achievement Appraisal Meeting for Ultra-Fine Diameter Polarization-Maintaining Fiber”, organized by the Hubei Provincial Office of Defense Science, Technology and Industry, was successfully held at Yangtze Optical Electronic Co., Ltd. (YOEC, Stock Code: 688143) in Wuhan. The meeting invited leading experts and scholars from the aerospace and national defense science and technology sectors to conduct a rigorous on-site appraisal of the ultra-fine diameter polarization-maintaining (PM) fiber technology independently developed by YOEC.
Through on-site inspection of the production line, live performance testing, and comprehensive review of technical documentation, the appraisal committee carried out an in-depth evaluation of the related technologies and products. The experts unanimously recognized that YOEC’s ultra-fine diameter PM fiber has achieved multiple innovative breakthroughs in key technologies.
The appraisal meeting was organized by the Hubei Provincial Office of Defense Science, Technology and Industry. In his opening remarks, Mr. Pi Yabin, Chairman and President of YOEC, stated that YOEC has long been committed to technological innovation and application breakthroughs in the field of specialty optical fibers. As a core component of next-generation fiber optic gyroscopes, the technical level of ultra-fine diameter PM fiber directly impacts the development of national high-end equipment and defense technologies. The achievements submitted for appraisal represent the result of years of dedicated research and development by YOEC’s technical team, embodying the company’s commitment to the craftsmanship spirit of “precision, excellence, and continuous improvement.”
The core technological achievement appraised at this meeting—the ultra-fine diameter polarization-maintaining fiber—demonstrates significant advantages over conventional PM fibers. While maintaining excellent polarization-maintaining performance, the fiber diameter has been substantially reduced, making it currently the world’s smallest panda-type polarization-maintaining fiber. At the same time, it offers superior bending performance and enhanced environmental adaptability. All key performance indicators have reached an international leading level.
The appraisal experts pointed out that the successful development of this ultra-fine diameter PM fiber will strongly promote the upgrading and development of multiple strategic emerging industries. In the defense sector, it enables the development of smaller, lighter, and more precise navigation systems, directly supporting advancements in aerospace and cutting-edge weapons and equipment. In the civilian sector, it opens new possibilities for applications such as autonomous driving, robotics, and high-end industrial automation, where navigation systems are highly sensitive to size and cost.
