YOEC Showcases Specialty Fiber Innovations at SPC 2026
YOEC Strengthens Global Collaboration at SPC 2026
From July 15 to 17, 2026, the 2nd International Conference on Sustainable Photonics (SPC 2026) was successfully held at the Beihang International Innovation Institute (BIII), Hangzhou. As a national-level "Little Giant" enterprise specializing in specialty optical fibers, Yangtze Optical Electronic Co., Ltd. (YOEC, Stock Code: 688143) actively participated in the conference, showcasing its comprehensive technological capabilities across the entire specialty fiber value chain on an international academic platform while opening a new chapter in global collaboration and innovation.
Hosted by Beihang University, SPC 2026 brought together leading photonics researchers, scientists, and industry leaders from around the world. Under the theme "Sustainable Photonics," the conference focused on four key application areas: Healthcare, Environmental Monitoring, Green Energy, and Infrastructure & Equipment, exploring how photonic technologies can contribute to achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Representing YOEC at the conference were Dr. Zhenggang Lian, Technical Director; Haoran Chen, Marketing Director of the Strategic Development Center; Dr. Wei Gao from the R&D Center; and Dr. Qiujun Ruan.
During the "Sustainable Photonics for Infrastructure and Equipment IV" session on July 17, Dr. Wei Gao delivered an invited presentation titled "Visible to Near-Infrared Hollow-Core Fibers: Design, Fabrication, Characterization, and Applications." His presentation systematically introduced YOEC's end-to-end R&D capabilities in hollow-core fibers spanning the visible to near-infrared wavelength range, covering fiber design, fabrication, characterization, and application development. The presentation attracted significant interest from experts and researchers attending the conference. Following the session, renowned professors from the University of Southampton and other leading domestic and international institutions engaged in in-depth discussions with Dr. Gao, expressing strong interest in YOEC's latest technological advancements in hollow-core fiber technology.
During the conference, Dr. Zhenggang Lian was also invited to participate in the panel discussion "How Can Photonics Contribute to the Sustainable Development Goals?" He joined distinguished experts including Prof. Perry Shum, Global President of the IEEE Photonics Society; Prof. Winnie, Global Chair of IEEE Women in Engineering (WIE); Academician Thierry, a leading French AI scientist; Dr. Yuhong Bai, Executive Editor of Light: Science & Applications; Prof. Norhana, Director of the Centre for Sustainable Development at the National University of Malaysia; and Prof. Xia Yu from Beihang University.
During the discussion, Dr. Lian emphasized that photonics technologies are closely aligned with the global Sustainable Development Goals. He noted that SPC 2026's agenda—organized around Healthcare, Environmental Monitoring, Green Energy, and Infrastructure & Equipment—not only reflects the needs of industrial development but also corresponds to several key UN SDGs. Experts from academia and industry shared multidisciplinary perspectives on strengthening collaboration across photonics-related fields to build a more sustainable future. Dr. Lian's insights from an industrial and commercialization perspective were well received by the audience and sparked extensive discussion.
YOEC's participation in SPC 2026 represented not only a comprehensive showcase of its latest technological achievements but also another significant milestone in the company's international development strategy. Through in-depth exchanges with world-renowned researchers and industry leaders, YOEC further strengthened its position as an innovation leader in specialty optical fiber technologies, laying a solid foundation for expanding global industry-academia collaboration and advancing Chinese photonics technologies onto the international stage.
