Hollow-Core Fiber Pioneer Fetah Benabid Visits YOEC
The Exchange between Father of Anti-Resonant Hollow-Core Fiber with YOEC
On September 8, Professor Fetah Benabid, Director of the French National Centre for Scientific Research (CNRS), and Mr. Jean Sauvage-Vincent, CEO of GLOphotonics, visited Yangtze Optical Electronic Co., Ltd. (YOEC, Stock Code: 688143). Professor Benabid is internationally recognized as one of the pioneers in the field of hollow-core fiber and is widely known as the “Father of Anti-Resonant Hollow-Core Fiber.”
During the visit, Professor Benabid was invited to YOEC’s internal academic exchange platform, “Gewu Forum,” where he delivered a keynote presentation entitled “Hollow-Core Photonic Crystal Fibers: History, State of the Art, and Prospects.” The presentation provided a comprehensive review of the evolution of hollow-core fiber technology, from its early scientific concepts to recent technological advancements. YOEC’s technical team participated in the session and engaged in in-depth discussions with Professor Benabid on cutting-edge technologies and key challenges in hollow-core fiber applications, including optical communications and high-power laser transmission.
With nearly 30 years of research experience in this field, Professor Benabid has published more than 100 papers in prestigious journals such as Nature and Science, with over 10,000 citations. He pioneered Kagome-type hollow-core fibers and all-fiber gas cells, and proposed the “inhibited coupling” guidance mechanism, which directly contributed to the development of low-loss negative-curvature hollow-core fibers. His research has laid a significant foundation for the understanding of light-guiding mechanisms and fabrication technologies of hollow-core fibers. GLOphotonics, founded by Professor Benabid, is a global leader in the industrial application of hollow-core fiber technologies.
